TN: Ex-AIADMK Minister Vijayabaskar sent to 2 days CB-CID custody

Karur (Tamil Nadu), July 22 (Reporter) A Judicial Magistrate Court in Karur on Monday granted the Crime Branch-Criminal Investigation Department (CB-CID) two days custody of former Tamil Nadu Transport Minister and senior AIADMK Minister M.R.Vijayabhaskar, who was arrested in connection with a Rs 100 crore worth land grabbing case. The Judicial Magistrate Court 1 Judge, S.P.Barath Kumar allowed the plea of CB-CID to conduct custodial interrogation with Vijayabhaskar for two days from today. The CB-CID arrested the former Minister, who had been absconding after his anticipatory bail petitions were rejected by the Karur district principal sessions court on July 16, at Thrissur in Kerala. The Karur police had registered a case against seven persons, including Vijayabhaskar’s close aide Praveen under eight sections of IPC on June 9 for fraudulently registering 22 acres of land worth Rs 100 crores owned by one M.Prakash using forged documents. Fearing arrest in the case, Vijayabhaskar moved the court seeking anticipatory bail. Prakash had stated in his complaint that Vijayabhaskar and his associates allegedly threatened his wife P.Sasikala and daughter P.Shobana when they raised the issue with the former Minister. The land was transferred to four individuals in a fraudulent manner. The case was transferred to the CB-CID on June 14. Meanwhile, the Vangal police in Karur registered a case against 13 persons, including Vijayabhaskar and his brother Sekhar in connection with the case on June 22 under Sections including 147 (rioting), 294(b) (obscene act and utters obscene words), 323 (voluntarily causing hurt to any person), 324 (causing hurt by dangerous weapons), 365 (kidnapping), 506 (ii) (threatening to cause death) of IPC...////...
