TN: Five schools get hoax bomb threat through email

Tiruchirapalli (Tamil Nadu), Nov 5 (Reporter) Five private schools at various locations in Tiruchirapalli city received bomb threats via email on Tuesday, prompting the cops to conduct massive search operations. Police said Mahatma Gandhi Centenary Vidyalaya School, Rajam Krishnamurthy Public School, Rajaji Vidyalaya, and Santhanam Vidyalaya Senior Secondary School—all affiliated to the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE)—and Holy Cross Girls Higher Secondary Schools received an email this morning threatening that bombs would explode in the institutions. Upon receiving complaints from the respective school authorities, Tamil Nadu Bomb Detection and Disposal Squad (BDDS) and Tamil Nadu Fire and Rescue Services department personnel split into different groups and conducted a thorough check inside the premises of the educational institutions. ‘The bomb threat was a hoax, as nothing suspicious was found,’ police said after several hours of thorough checks. Following the bomb threat, the Mahatma Gandhi Centenary Vidyalaya School and Rajaji Vidyalaya schools declared a day’s holiday on Tuesday. Several hoax bomb threats were issued to many schools across Tamil Nadu over the last few weeks. A detailed probe is underway by the Cyber Crime wing police to identify the sender of the email and also to track the Internet Protocol address from where the mail has been sent to the educational institutions...////...
