Chennai, Jan 7 (Reporter) A day after Tamil Nadu Governor R N Ravi boycotted the State Assembly and left the House in a huff without delivering the customary New Year address citing non-recital of National Anthem, the ruling DMK staged protest demonstrations across the State on Tuesday condemning his action and demanding his recall. The agitation was held in front of all district headquarters in the State. In Chennai city, the demonstration was led by DMK MP and Women's Wing leader Ms Kanimozhi, in which Lok Sabha MP Dayanidhi Maran, Party Organisational Secretary R S Bharathi, senior leaders and DMK functionaries took part. The agitators shouted slogans denouncing the Governor's act of boycotting the House and not delivering his customary address during the inaugural session of the year. Addressing the demonstration, Ms Kanimozhi said the Governor was running away from the Assembly like a school kid citing flimsy reasons and demanded his recall. The Governor walking out of the Assembly was akin to a kid running away from school citing lame excuses like stomach ache or head ache. "It is enough for him to send a leave letter for the Chief Minister to accept it. It is better for you to stay back", Ms Kanimozhi, who is also the DMK Deputy General Secretary, said . She also said recital of the Tamil Thaai Vaazhthu (invocation song to Goddess Mother Tamil) first is the long followed tradition in the State Assembly and the National Anthem would be recited at the end of the Governor's address. DMK staging protests drew condemnation from various Opposition parties afterthe State government refused permission for them to stage protests against the alleged recent sexual assault on a girl student at the State-run iconic Anna University, and arresting them for defying the police order...////...
