Chennai, May 25 (Reporter) Tamil Nadu Governor R.N.Ravi, who is also the Chancellor of State Universities, will inaugurate a two-day Conference of Vice-Chancellors of State and Private Universities on May 27.
The meet, to be held at Raj Bhavan, Udhagamandalam, aims to have detailed deliberations and discussions on a gamut of issues covering Research excellence, institution development, promoting entrepreneurship, capacity building for faculty members, promoting universal human values, etc.
The aim of the conference is to further improve the standards of Higher Education in the state, a communique from Raj Bhavan said here on Saturday.
The Governor will deliver the Presidential address at the inaugural and valedictory sessions of the conference.
Chief Guest Prof. M. Jagadesh Kumar, Chairman, University Grants Commission will deliver special address during the inaugural session.
On the first day of the conference, sessions will be held on “Institution Development Plan - Vision Document for Universities” by Dr. S.Vaidhyasubramaniam, Vice-Chancellor, SASTRA University; “Building Research Excellence and Future of Artificial Intelligence”’ by Prof. Partha Chakrabarti, Former Director, IIT-Kharagpur; “Innovation and Entrepreneurship” by Ms. Sruthi Kannan, Engineering Leader, CISCO; “Augmenting Lifelong Learning through National Credit Framework”
by Dr.Bharathi Harishankar, Vice-Chancellor, Avinashilingam Institute of Home Science and Higher Education for Women.
On the second day sessions will be held on “Indian Red Cross Society and Universities’ by Karthik Thirunarayan, Member, Committee of Administrators, Indian Red Cross Society, Tamil Nadu State Branch, Chennai; “Various Volunteer and Internship Programs in Auroville for University Students”
by Dr.Jayanti S. Ravi, Secretary, Auroville Foundation; Capacity Building for Faculty Members towards emerging Industrial Requirements” by Prof.R.Velraj, Vice-Chancellor, Anna University and Dr.G.Ravi, Vice-Chancellor, Alagappa University; “Universal Human Values” by Prof. H.D. Charan, Chairman, National Committee on Universal Human Values, AICTE.
There would be an interactive session after each presentation.
Vice Chancellors of State Universities will give presentations on “Best Practices adopted by the Universities” during the conference. Experience sharing by students/scholars who have qualified in NET or UGC-CSIR tests and obtained Junior Research Fellowship has also been scheduled.
Vice-Chancellors of all State universities, private universities and Central universities/Institutions in Tamil Nadu will participate during the two-day conference...////...
