TN: Murder case accused hacked to death, 4 held

Tirunelveli (Tamil Nadu), Dec 20 (Reporter) In a daring act, a 38-year-old man was brutally hacked to death in full public view in an act of revenge killing near the Tirunelveli district court complex on Friday. Police said the deceased S.Mayandi of Keezha Natham village was a prime accused in the murder of a Dalit Raja Mani on August 13, last year over enmity. When Mayandi came to appear before the court for the hearing, a four-member armed gang which came in a car waylaid him near the court complex and attacked him with sickles indiscriminately. Mayandi succumbed to multiple cut injuries on the spot. One of the assailants was caught by the public and handed over to the police. Meanwhile, police arrested the three others involved in the murder and seized sickles and the car from them. The body was removed to Tirunelveli Government Medical College Hospital for post-mortem.
