TN recognised ‘Best Performer’ in Startup Ranking 2022’

Chennai, Jan 16 (Reporter) Tamil Nadu State was recognised as ‘Best Performer’ which is the top category in the States’ Startup Ranking 2022, released at an event in Bharat Mandapam in New Delhi on Tuesday. It was the 4th edition of Startup India Ranking carried out by the Union Government’s Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT). MSME Secretary for Tamil Nadu Ms Archana Patnaik, Mission Director and CEO, StartupTN, Sivarajah Ramanathan along with officials from StartupTN, S. Dinesh Kumar, P. Sivakumar and S.R. Aneesh received the certificate from Union Minister for Commerce and Industry Piyush Goyal. Ms Archana Patnaik, Industries Secretary Arun Roy and Mr Sivarajah Ramanathan received certificates of recognition for development of the Startup ecosystem in Tamil Nadu. Consistent improvement in the State Ranking for Startups stands testament to the state government’s commitment towards Startups and continued support, an official release here said. In the first two editions, the State was categorised in the bottom-most category of ‘Emerging Ecosystem.’ Tamil Nadu was recognised as ‘Leader’ in the 2021 ranking, which was the third edition. Within three years the present government took charge, the State leaped two steps to reach the Best Performer category. Tamil Nadu received a maximum score of 100th percentile in three out of seven Reform Areas such as Institutional Support, Funding Support and Capacity Building of Enablers. 100th percentile in a Reform Area implies that the State has scored higher than all the participating States and UTs. The State secured 94th percentile in Incubation and Mentorship Support. In the areas of Fostering Innovation and Entrepreneurship and Roadmap to a Sustainable Future, Tamil Nadu secured 79th and 75th percentile respectively. StartupTN’s initiatives such as establishment TANSEED Fund, Tamil Nadu SC/ST Startup Fund and Innovation Voucher Program to support Startups were mentioned in the certificate awarded to Tamil Nadu. Tamil Nadu was also recognised for special seed grants for Startups run by women, Startups into Rural and Green Tech sectors. Greenviro Global, a beneficiary of StartupTN’s TANSEED, received National Startup Awards 2023 under ‘Sustainability Champion’ category in the same event. The Startup has engineered an innovative value processing technique to convert the agro waste into Green Charcoal Briquettes which substitute the wooden charcoal. Atsuya Technologies Private Limited, another Startup from Tamil Nadu, won Genesis Innovators of the year award at the National Startups Awards 2023...////...
