Virudhunagar (Tamil Nadu), Aug 14 (Reporter) Two workers were charred to death in a blast at a licensed private fireworks factory at Mayathevanpatti village near Srivilliputhur in this Southern district on Wednesday. Police said the blast occurred due to friction when the workers were unloading highly inflammable chemicals used for making fancy variety crackers from a van to the godown at Jayanthi Fireworks Factory. The godown was completely destroyed in the fire following the blast. Tamil Nadu Fire and Rescue Services personnel from Sivakasi and Srivilliputhur rushed to the factory and extinguished the fire. The deceased were identified as Pullakutti (45) and Karthik (35). The bodies were removed to the government hospital at Sivakasi for post-mortem.
