Hyderabad, May 22 (Reporter) Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) Senior Vice President G Niranjan has strongly condemned the comments made by BJP National Spokesperson Sambit Patra, who stated that Puri Jagannath Swamy is a devotee of Modi. Speaking to the media at Gandhi Bhavan on Wednesday, Niranjan expressed that these comments have shocked and angered the devotees of Lord Jagannath worldwide. Due to the widespread protests, Sambit Patra apologised for his remarks and announced a three-day Deeksha (penance), but Niranjan asserted that the Lord would still punish him for his mistake. Niranjan criticised the BJP for its arrogance and pride, suggesting that it wouldn’t be surprising if the BJP claimed that Modi is an incarnation of God like Shri Krishna and Shri Ram in the future. He noted that Narendra Modi often speaks of himself as an avatar during election campaigns and speculated that BJP supporters might build temples for Modi in the future, asking people to visit these temples instead of the traditional holy sites like Puri Jagannath, Ayodhya, and Mathura. He accused Modi of attempting to rewrite India's history and the history of its independence, trying to portray that all achievements are solely due to the BJP. Niranjan also pointed out the controversial veneration of Nathuram Godse, the assassin of Mahatma Gandhi, by some BJP supporters. Niranjan highlighted the BJP’s efforts to undermine the legacy of Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru, the architect of modern India, and to create a divide between Ambedkar and Nehru. He criticized the false narrative being spread that SC and ST reservations would not have been possible without Ambedkar, ignoring Nehru's contributions. With elections being held in five phases so far, Niranjan accused the BJP of resorting to gimmicks to garner more votes in the remaining phases, knowing that the results might not meet their expectations. He stated that the results of this election will be an eye-opener for Modi...////...
