Agartala, Apr 15 (Reporter) Asserting the victory of the BJP in the upcoming parliamentary elections, Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Monday promised a comprehensive development plan for Tripura while addressing his first rally at Kumarghat of Unakoti district in favour of the BJP candidate Kriti Devi Debbarman who hails from Chhattisgarh. Shah criticized both CPI-M and Congress for the underdevelopment of tribals in the state and said, “Communists always won 20 tribal reserved seats in the Assembly but did nothing for them except for providing arms to the innocent youths, poverty, and sufferings. Modiji in the last 10 years uplifted the socio-economic status of the tribals and 40,000 displaced Brus of Mizoram after 24 years of misery got decent settlements in Tripura.” Modi government has set its priority on tribal development and it was proved when Droupadi Murmu became the President of India and Satyaram Reang and Beni Madhav Jamatia of Tripura were awarded Padma Shri. Before 2014, the budget for the Ministry of Tribal Affairs was Rs 24,000 Crore which was increased to Rs 1,25,000 Crore under Modi’s rule, Shah underlined. Narendra Modi government signed as many as 10 agreements with different groups and communities of the Northeast in 10 years, which paved the way for laying down arms of 10,000 youths and bringing peace to the region, he claimed adding that under Communist rule, people lacked access to education and healthcare facilities, resulting in frustrated youth taking up arms while Modi mainstreamed youth by providing them with laptops and employment opportunities. He pointed out that in 10 years of Manmohan Singh government had spent only Rs 40,183 Crore for the development of Tripura, which Modiji increased to Rs 98000 Crore in the last 10 years besides, Rs 20,000 crore for other infrastructure, Rs 17,000 Crore for roads, Rs 2000 Crore for railway, Rs 1000 Crore for development of air connectivity. He also praised the role of Tripura Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha for working tirelessly for the development of Tripura by implementing the series of ambitious projects like – Rs 1550 Crore SEZ in Jalefa of Sabroom in South Tripura to make the state a gateway of Northeast for Southeast Asia via Chittagong seaport of Bangladesh, Agartala-Akhaura railway project, international cricket stadium at Narsingarh and National Sanskrit University...////...
