Agartala, May 9 (Reporter) Tripura Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha on Thursday announced that his government has embarked on a plan to begin a liver transplant facility in the state.
Plans for the liver transplant facility comes after the state successfully completed the renal transplant facility at Agartala Govt Medical College.
The AGMC, in its 20-year journey, has added a few feathers in the last three years, which included super specialty services like neurosurgery, cardiac surgery, nephrology, dialysis facilities in all district hospitals, and a few other critical care services that required people to travel outside the state often, Saha stated before heading to West Bengal for the 4th phase election campaign.
“The referral cases of treatment have been reduced substantially, and treatment facilities in district hospitals have also expanded. Our target is to provide the best treatment in primary health centres and community health centres; so that quality and super specialty treatment would be provided at the state referral hospital and medical colleges,” Saha underlined.
He said the proposed kidney transplant facility is expected to commence at AGMC in the 3rd week of June, as everything has been finalized.
On the other hand, the state government has decided to begin liver transplant facilities in AGMC, and a few more super specialty services will be introduced in the medical colleges, the chief minister added...////...
