Agartala,Aug 26 (Reporter) Despite reeling under a severe flood, Tripura reported the arrest of at least 14 illegal Bangladeshis, three Rohingyas, two Indian touts, and an Indian smuggler involved in facilitating cross-border movement and human trafficking.
According to BSF, based on specific input about the presence of Indian touts in bordering Tripura village Belabor of Western Agartala, BSF, and GRP conducted a raid on Sunday and apprehended two villagers from their houses. The initial investigation revealed both of them were actively involved in facilitating illegal migration and human trafficking through Tripura.
In a raid on Saturday afternoon, BSF apprehended two Bangladeshi nationals at Nischintapur of Agartala while they were attempting to cross over to Indian territory by negotiating the border fence. They were found as residents of Chittagong district of Bangladesh.
On Friday, BSF jawans posted at the border detained at least five Bangladeshi nationals at Lankamura BOP of Agartala while they were attempting to cross over to Indian territory by negotiating the border fence. They were the residents of Bagochar village in Rajshahi district of Bangladesh. Another Rohingya was also apprehended by BSF troops in the area at Nischintapur in another operation on the same day.
BSF troops deployed in Hiracherra of Kailashahar of Unakoti District apprehended two Rohingyas while they were trying to get into Indian territory negotiating the barbed wire fencing.
BSF troops of BOP Lankamura and BOP Boxanagar under Sepahijala district seized 267 new mobile phones amounting to Rs 25.5 lakhs while smuggling to Bangladesh on Thursday.
In a separate joint operation of BSF troops with police of Battala outpost in Agartala recovered 150 mobiles of various models amounting to Rs 23 lakh from a house on the same day when incessant rain causing flood stalled the life.
BSF jawans deployed in the area of BOP Harnakhola under PS Sidhai of West Tripura apprehended seven Bangladeshi nationals while they were trying to enter India to negotiate the border fencing on Wednesday. Two of them were residents of Moulvibazar and five including one woman and child were residents of Brahmanbaria.
1.5 lakh BD taka and 300 US dollars were also recovered from their possession.
An Indian national was apprehended in the area of BOP Mantoli of West Tripura and 14 small packets of suspected brown sugar were recovered from his possession. Further on questioning him, 1000 Yaba tablets were recovered from a culvert near Nischintapur bridge...////...
