Malappuram, May 10 (Reporter) Two cousin sisters aged eight and nine, were drowned in a pond in an abandoned quarry at Podiyat near Melmuri, on Friday. Both of them were the daughters of the sisters from a family of Melmuri and came to attend the marriage function of their uncle. Police identified the deceased as Rasha (8) daughter of Rasheed of Pulikkal, and Diya Fathima (9) daughter of Jamsheer of Pookottupadam near Nilambur. The incident took place around afternoon. The children were playing with others in the afternoon and later two of them were missing. Following this, local residents started a search operation and found their bodies in the pond.
