Two contract workers die of asphyxiation while cleaning empty chemical tank of TNPL

Chennai, Apr 10 (Reporter) In a tragic incident, two contract workers died of asphyxiation while they were engaged in cleaning an empty chemical tank at the premises of Tamil Nadu Petroproducts Limited (TNPL) in the city's northern suburb of Manali, on Tuesday. The deceased were cleaning the tanks that were used for storing the chemical benzene. Yesterday, they allegedly inhaled poisonous gas and fainted inside the tank. They were rushed to a hospital, where the doctors declared them ‘brought dead’. Police said the duo were identified as Deenadayalan (41) and Panchnath Thakur (59).
