Jammu, May 11 (Reporter) Police on Saturday booked two notorious criminals, including a gangster, under Public Safety Act (PSA) in Samba district of Jammu and Kashmir.
Police said that in order to curb the activities of criminal gangs in the district, two notorious criminals of Gataru gang are detained and lodged in the jail.
One of the arrested persons was also identified as head of the gang Sumit Jandyal alias Gataru and booked under under the Jammu and Kashmir Public Safety Act (PSA).
The gangster Sumit Jandyal alias Gataru and member of Gataru gang Sourav Gupta, both sons of Om Parkash, residents of Vijaypur district Samba have been booked for their alleged involvement in criminal activities in an organised manner, thus posing a serious threat to public peace and order.
The gangster Gataru is operating Gataru gang along with his brother Sourav and other members in the district.
The gang is involved in various criminal activities and gang wars involving attempt to murder, robbery, breach of peace, extortion, cheating and land grabbing.
Both have been involved in multiple criminal cases registered in the Police Stations of district Samba and Jammu.
Following their repeated engagement in criminal activities, detention orders were issued by the District Magistrate Samba based on detailed dossiers prepared by SSP Samba, said the spokesman.
SHO PS Vijaypur executed these warrants, leading to the incarceration of the accused in District Jail Kathua...////...
