Sivaganga (Tamil Nadu), Jan 17 (Reporter) Two spectators, including a 12-year-old boy were gored to death by bulls and more than 100 persons, including spectators and bull tamers were injured in Manjuvirattu (bull race) event held at Siravayal village in this district on Wednesday. Official sources said one of the bulls unleashed into the Manjuvirattu arena gored to death the boy, identified as Baskaran (12) alias Rahul, hailing from K.Valayapatti village. Another person, aged around 35 whose identity was yet to be established, died after a ferocious bull gored him when he was watching the event. Those mildly injured were treated by special medical teams, while the grievously injured were admitted to government hospital. Manjuvirattu was being organised in Siravayal every year as part of the Pongal festivities. Though 80 bull tamers and 275 bulls were registered for the event, several unregistered bulls were also unleashed into the arena. Over 50,000 spectators assembled in the village to witness the event. Earlier, Tamil Nadu Minister for Cooperation K.R.Periyakaruppan flagged off the event in the presence of district collector Asha Ajith.
