Hyderabad, June 9 (Reporter) Two-time MPs Gangapuram Kishan Reddy and Bandi Sanjay Kumar from Telangana state are set to be inducted into Modi-Cabinet on Sunday.
Both Kishan Reddy and Sanjay were re-elected for the second time from Secunderabad and Karimnagar Parliamentary constituencies respectively in the just-concluded Lok Sabha poll in the state.
The 63-year-old Kishan Reddy had previously served as the Union Minister for Tourism, Culture, and Development of North Eastern Region in the second Modi Cabinet.
Both Kishan Reddy and 52-year-old Bandi Sanjay received phone calls from the Prime Minister's Office, informing them of their inclusion in the Union Cabinet, which will take oath on Sunday.
The BJP had won eight MP seats in Telangana in the recently concluded Lok Sabha election.President Draupadi Murmu will administer the oath of office to Modi and his Cabinet at a ceremony at Rashtrapati Bhavan in Delhi at 7:15 PM tonight.
Reddy, who is currently serving as Minister of Tourism, is a member of the Bharatiya Janata Party since 1980.Reddy was earlier elected to the state Legislative Assembly three-times -- including one time from Himayatnagar constituency ( between 2004 and 2009) and two times from Amberpet Assembly constituency in 2009 and 2014.
In the last year Assembly polls, he suffered a big defeat at the hands of the Bharat Rashtra Samiti (BRS) candidate, but five months later, he was elected as MP from Secunderabad in 2019 election.Himayatnagar in Hyderabad was later merged into Khairtabad constituency.
In this year’s Lok Sabha election, Reddy defeated Congress’s Danam Nagender by 49,944 votes in Secunderabad.
After the creation of a separate Telangana state in 2014, Reddy was the first BJP state president from 2014 to 2016, and then Reddy was given the post again on July 5, 2023. He succeeded Bandi Sanjay Kumar.
Hailing from Timmapur in Rangareddy district, Reddy has a diploma in tool design, and has been interested in politics since his student days, when he joined the Janata Party.
He later joined the BJP and was the first state treasurer of the BJP unit in undivided Andhra Pradesh in the early 1980s. Later, he also became state secretary of the BJP Yuva Morcha...////...
