Chennai, Feb 12 (Reporter) The Charge D’Affaires, Embassy of USA to India, Jorgan Kendal Andrews
and Ambassador of Russian Federation to India Denis Alipov met ISRO Cahirman Dr V Narayanan
and discussed about space collaboration, including the upcoming ISRO-NASA joint NISAR launch
from SHAR Range, Sriharikota, and Gaganyaan mission.
Welcoming Mr Jorgan Kendal Andrews at the Antariksh Bhavan--ISRO headquarters at Bengaluru,
Dr Narayanan in his welcome remarks, highlighted the growing bilateral space cooperation involving
stakeholders from both sides and the important role played by the Embassies of both sides for the
same.
Charge D’Affaires congratulated ISRO for the landmark achievements like Chandrayaan-3 Lunar
landing and docking experiment in Space (SpaDeX) and appreciated growing space ecosystem
in India as the result of space sector reforms.
Readiness of ISRO-NASA joint satellite (NISAR) for launch, advancements in ISRO-NASA joint
mission to International Space Station (ISS), participation of US industries in the upcoming Global
Conference on Space Exploration (GLEX2025, May 7-9, 2025 at New Delhi), convening of Space
Business Forum as an outcome of Commercial space sub-working group interactions were also
discussed during the meeting, ISRO said.
Both sides emphasised the role of space cooperation for building greater bilateral cooperation
and affirmed to continue their efforts in further strengthening the same, it said.
Welcoming Mr Denis Alipov, the ISRO Chief highlighted the strong bilateral space cooperation
right from the initial days of Indian space programme to the current cooperation mainly in India’s
Human Space Flight programme, Gaganyaan.
While appreciating India’s recent achievements in space, the Ambassador emphasised the need
for enhancing Russia’s engagement with various stakeholders of Indian space ecosystem.
It said role of Technology Protection Agreement in enabling discussion on launch vehicle engine
development, enhanced engagement under BRICS space cooperation and on-going discussions
at agency-level; industry-level and academic institute-level were also discussed.
The Ambassador assured continued support in further strengthening the space cooperation across
various stakeholders...////...
