Hyderabad, Feb 1 (Reporter) Telangana Irrigation and Civil Supplies Minister Capt Uttam Kumar Reddy strongly criticized the Union Budget 2025-26, labelling it anti-farmer, anti-poor, and a betrayal of Telangana by the BJP-led Central Government. He accused the BJP of using the budget to favour election-bound states like Bihar and Delhi while neglecting Telangana. In a statement here on Saturday, Reddy pointed out that Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman’s budget speech, despite quoting Telugu poet Gurajada Appa Rao, failed to address the needs of Telangana, which has been seeking long-awaited projects such as the Bayyaram Steel Plant, Kazipet Railway Coach Factory, and the Palamuru-Rangareddy Lift Irrigation Project. He alleged that the BJP government continues to ignore Telangana's development while directing funds to politically important states. The Minister also criticised the budget for failing to address key issues for farmers, such as raising the Minimum Support Price (MSP) or providing procurement guarantees. He called out the lack of urban development funds for Hyderabad, especially the scrapping of the Hyderabad ITIR project, which could have created jobs. Reddy also highlighted the disparity in central tax devolution, noting that while Telangana contributes 4.5 per cent to India's GDP, it receives only 2.10 per cent of the central tax share. He lamented that Telangana’s growth has not been reflected in fair resource allocation. He accused the BJP government of using the budget as a political tool and reaffirmed that Telangana has been cheated once again, with the people of the state unlikely to forgive the BJP for this continued injustice...////...
