Bengaluru, June 8 (Reporter) The somber return of nine trekkers from Karnataka, who tragically lost their lives amidst harsh weather conditions in Uttarakhand, marked a solemn event as their bodies were repatriated to Bengaluru via Delhi on Friday, officials confirmed.
The ill-fated expedition, organized by the Himalayan View Trekking Agency, initially comprised 22 members and embarked on May 29 for a challenging 35-kilometer trek.
Earlier today, authorities received the bodies of three trekkers, followed by the subsequent arrival of the remaining six, all of whom were identified as Padmini Hegde, Venkatesh Prasad, Asha Sudhakar, Padmanabha Kundapur Krishnamurthy, Sindhu Vakekalam, Vinayak Mungurwadi, Sujatha Mungurwadi, Chitra Praneet, and Anita Rangappa. Swift arrangements were made for their respectful transportation to their respective homes.
With all 22 members of the expedition accounted for, including the 13 survivors, Karnataka Revenue Minister Krishna Byre Gowda, who personally oversaw the rescue operations in Dehradun, expressed profound condolences to the grieving families.
