Mumbai, Dec 31 (Reporter) The surrender of the main accused Valmik Karad before the CID in connection with murder of former Sarpanch of Massa jog village Santosh Deshmukh is "failure" of the BJP-led Mahayuti government, said Maharashtra Congress Chief Spokesperson Atul Londhe here on Tuesday. Londhe said Maharashtra Police has a lot of influence and reputation, Mumbai Police used to be compared to Scotland Yard, but the condition of such a competent police force has become "pathetic" now. Londhe said it is the "failure" of the police force that the accused in Deshmukh murder case in Beed was not found by police and CID for 20 days, till he surrendered at the CID office today. Londhe demanded the case be investigated under the supervision of a sitting judge in view of the serious nature of organised crime in Beed. Londhe said the police force and CID in the state are still capable but their morale is "weakened as they are under political pressure". "It is shameful and unfortunate that the accused surrenders but cannot be caught," he added. The limitations of Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, who is hailed as a competent leader by some circles, with the Beed case has also been exposed.
