Kolkata, Mar 6 (Reporter) Vi on Wednesday announced the successful completion of its network deployment across the entire underground East-West Metro corridor route. With this, Vi customers traveling via the underwater metro rail service will experience uninterrupted connectivity across the entire 16.6-km route of the Green Line metro, according to a media statement here. "Today marks a significant day for the citizens of Kolkata as Prime Minister Narendra Modi Ji inaugurated India’s landmark infrastructure project— India’s first-ever underwater metro rail service. As the city gears up to use this newly constructed metro route," it said. To ensure seamless network connectivity for travelers commuting from Howrah Maidan to Esplanade, Vi has deployed cutting-edge network infrastructure across all 17 stations on the Green Line route, including a 10.8-km stretch consisting of six underground stations (Phool Bagan, Sealdah, Esplanade, Mahakaran, Howrah Station, Howrah Maidan) and 11 ground / elevated stations (Teghoria, Raghunathpur, Baguiati, Dum Dum Park, Kestopur, Salt Lake Sector V, Karunamoyee, Central Park, City Centre, Bengal Chemical, and Salt Lake Stadium). Out of these 11 elevated stations, six stations namely Salt Lake Sector V, Karunamoyee, Central Park, City Centre, Bengal Chemical and Salt Lake Stadium are accessible to public and other 5 stations will also be opened in due course. However, Vi has ensured complete network infrastructure deployment across all the stations. The major factor that differentiates the East-West metro corridor is the tunnel, which is located 13 meters below the Hooghly riverbed and 33 meters below the surface level. To enable its customers to experience a superior network, Vi has deployed IBS (in-building solutions) inside the tunnel under the river as well as the underground metro tunnel.
