Vichare making baseless allegations fearing defeat: Maha CM

Mumbai, May 20 (Reporter) Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde on Monday strongly refuted allegations made by Shiv Sena (UBT) Lok Sabha candidate Rajan Vichare about possibility of bogus voting and said Vichare feared defeat so came up with excuses. "They fear defeat," the Chief Minister said in response to accusations of bogus voting made by Vichare, who anticipated foul play on the final day of Lok Sabha elections in the state and said 1,500 outsiders were brought in three locations to cast fake votes. Talking to reporters Shinde said: "One EVM machine in Naupada area was closed for an hour. I have called the Collector and instructed him to start this machine as soon as possible. What do we need to bring bogus voters for?" said the CM. Vichare earlier alleged that his opponent Naresh Maske of Shinde Sena has brought around 1,500 persons to Thane from outside and he feared there was possibility of bogus voting. He claimed that some people have been brought from outside to Kopri, Pachapakkhadi and Wagle Estate which fall under Thane Lok Sabha Constituency. "I have received information around 9 am that bogus voting will take place at many parts in Thane by afternoon. Therefore, I appeal to the citizens of the constituency to vote as much as possible early in the morning, said Vichare. Refuting his claims, Shinde said: "We have worked hard in Thane, Thane is the stronghold of Shiv Sena chief Balasaheb Thackeray, Dharmaveer Anand Dighe. I have worked for this place for so many years, and people residing love us lot. Why would we need bogus voters?" "The voter response are very good in Thane, Vichare has started feeling his defeat therefore, he makes such allegations," said the Chief Minister. The Chief Minister also appealed to all the citizens to participate in the voting process and vote in maximum numbers. "The fifth and final phase of voting in Maharashtra is going on today. I appeal to all the citizens of Maharashtra to participate in this celebration of democracy. Our one vote is going to make history, it is going to make the nation. So everyone should vote. Citizens of the country should make Narendra Modi Prime Minister again," he added. Vichare filed a complaint with the election officer before Shinde's reaction came...////...
