Vijayashankar sworn in as Meghalaya Governor

Shillong, July 30 (Reporter) Former Karnataka Minister Chandrashekhar H. Vijayashankar, was sworn-in as the new Governor of Meghalaya on Tuesday. Meghalaya High Court Chief Justice S. Vaidyanathan administered the oath of office to Vijayshankar at a function held at Raj Bhavan here on Tuesday, which was attended by Chief Minister Conrad Sangma, his council of ministers, Assembly Speaker Thomas Sangma and senior officers and judges among others. “My goal is to work honestly for the development of the state. I want to be remembered as the people’s Governor of the state,” Vijayshankar said, adding that one of his first priorities would be to ensure fast track development of the state. “I want to take everybody into confidence, no personal agenda including political. Other issues are not related to me. Prime Minister and President of India have entrusted responsibility to me.
