Bengaluru, Jan 20 (Reporter) Karnataka BJP President Vijayendra Yediyurappa launched a scathing attack on the Congress government over recent incidents of gruesome mutilations of cows in the state, calling them a "heinous tragedy" and an affront to Karnataka's cultural and religious heritage.
Speaking to the media on Monday, Vijayendra condemned a series of shocking acts of cruelty towards animals, including the brutal severing of udders in Chamarajpet, Bengaluru, the cutting off of tails in Nanjangud, and the most recent horrifying incident in Honnavar, where a pregnant cow was mercilessly mutilated.
"In our Kannada land, which is revered for the protection of cows, the preservation of our religious values, the safeguarding of our culture, and the protection of the sentiments of millions, these horrific acts cannot go unpunished," he stated and accused the Congress government of failing to act decisively, attributing the violence to the "demonic mentality" of the perpetrators.
The Karnataka BJP President further criticised the Congress government for its indifference towards cow safety, claiming that since the government's ascent to power, those responsible for such atrocities have become emboldened.
He blamed this on the government's "politics of appeasement," warning that the BJP would take to the streets unless swift and strict legal action was taken against those behind the acts and the forces supporting them.
Drawing from the state's rich folklore, Vijayendra invoked the legendary tale of Huliraya (the lion) and Punyakoti (the cow), a symbol of loyalty, justice, and righteousness. The BJP leader urged the government to reflect on the moral and ethical values of Karnataka, adding, "I urge the government to take strict legal action against those who behave in a brutal manner even after hearing the story of Huliraya."
His remarks come amid growing concerns over the safety of animals and the protection of Karnataka's cultural and religious identity, with the BJP leader calling for a united stand to combat such atrocities...////...
