Amaravati, Dec 20 (Reporter) A well-marked low-pressure area over the west-central and adjoining southwest Bay of Bengal persisted over the same region as of 0830 hours on Friday, according to the Meteorological Department. A daily weather report here said that the system is associated with an upper cyclonic circulation extending up to 5.8 km above mean sea level. It is expected to continue moving nearly northwards and concentrate into a depression over the west-central Bay of Bengal within the next 12 hours. Subsequently, the system is likely to move north-northeast wards while maintaining the intensity of a depression over the following 24 hours. Heavy rain is likely to occur at isolated places in North Coastal Andhra Pradesh &Yanam during the next 24 hours. Thunderstorms accompanied by lightning are likely to occur at isolated places in the same area and during the same period. Squally winds of 40-50 kmph, gusting up to 60 kmph are likely to occur in North Coastal Andhra Pradesh & Yanam and South Coastal Andhra Pradesh during the next 24 hours. Light to moderate rain or thundershowers are likely to occur at a few places in Coastal Andhra Pradesh & Yanam and Rayalaseema during the next seven days.
