Madurai (Tamil Nadu), Feb 18 (Reporter) BJP State president K.Annamalai on Tuesday charged that 'women are completely unsafe in Tamil Nadu and the DMK government has not moved a single finger to ensure the safety of women.' In a post on ‘X’, Annamalai said ‘the news of a 17-year-old girl being gang-raped by seven students in Coimbatore is shocking.’ Such gang-rapes on girls show that due to the increasing drug abuse, the youth are turning to animalistic mentality. The entire country was shaken by Nirbhaya. But, in Tamil Nadu, every day, women, including girls, students, female police officers, and female government officials, are completely unsafe. The DMK government has not moved a single finger to prevent drug trafficking or ensure the safety of women. If the culprit is from the DMK, will the Chief Minister M.K.Stalin tell us who benefits from blaming the women who were affected and playing the role of father and brother for the sake of vain publicity, he asked. A 17-year-old girl was allegedly gang-raped by seven college students at Kuniyamuthur in Coimbatore sending shock waves across the State that has been witnessing a series of sexual harassment on girls and women in the recent times. The accused students, studying in different private colleges in Coimbatore were residing in rented rooms at different locations. One of the accused reportedly befriended the victim through a multimedia instant messaging app and invited her to his room at Kuniyamuthur, where she was allegedly gang raped by seven students. The Ukkadam police have arrested all the seven accused students under the POCSO Act and remanded them in judicial custody...////...
