Bengaluru, June 12 (Reporter) Former Karnataka Chief Minister and senior BJP leader BS Yediyurappa has approached the Karnataka High Court seeking the dismissal of a POCSO case filed against him. Yediyurappa's petition, filed on June 12, argues that the complaint lacks any elements of a crime. The case dates back to March 14, when a woman lodged a complaint with the Sadashivanagar police, accusing Yediyurappa of sexually harassing her 17-year-old daughter. The former CM was subsequently booked under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offenses (POCSO) Act and IPC Section 354(A) for sexual harassment. The woman had protested outside the Sadashivanagar police station for hours before the FIR was finally filed. The complainant, who passed away recently after a prolonged illness, had also written to the Karnataka State Commission for Women on April 29, urging them to ensure an unbiased investigation and the immediate arrest of Yediyurappa. She accused the CID of violating stringent POCSO laws by not arresting the former CM. It is noteworthy that the deceased woman had previously lodged 53 complaints against various individuals, including her husband, police officers, and opposition party leaders. Yediyurappa, a senior lingayat leader in the BJP, has denied all allegations. He acknowledged meeting the woman and her daughter when they sought his help but firmly denied any misconduct...////...
